EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-backed therapy that helps people heal from the emotional distress caused by painful or overwhelming life experiences. When something difficult happens, your brain may not fully process the memory, leaving it “stuck” with the same feelings, thoughts, and body sensations you had at the time. This can cause ongoing symptoms like anxiety, depression, or intrusive memories.
EMDR helps your brain reprocess these experiences so they no longer feel as overwhelming. During an EMDR session, I will guide you to focus on a specific memory while using gentle bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements, tapping, or sounds. This process helps your brain integrate the memory in a healthier way, reducing the intensity of painful emotions and allowing you to move forward with greater ease.
What EMDR Can Help With
EMDR is widely recognized as an effective treatment for trauma, but it is also helpful for:
- Anxiety and panic
- Depression
- Grief and loss
- Phobias
- Stressful life events
- Negative self-beliefs
Why Clients Choose EMDR
Many clients find EMDR to be a powerful approach because it does not require going into detail about every aspect of a painful event. Instead, it focuses on helping the brain heal naturally, much like the body heals a physical wound. Over time, the memory remains, but the emotional charge around it softens, leaving you with a greater sense of calm, strength, and resilience.
